Schools from across five regions in the country will contest for the top honors when Term One games enter the regional phase with tickets to the national set for Machakos High School in April at stake.

Western Region will get underway the season with the event set for Nyang’ori High and Chavakali High School alongside Nyanza who will be hosting at Kisumu School from Tuesday morning.
Nairobi Region will follow suit on Wednesday with matches set for Starehe School, Coast games will be staged at Kilifi and Malindi and Eastern will round off the action at Machakos School.

Nyathuna Secondary School and Handege will carry the area flag in handball girls and boys respectively.
Western Region Kenya Secondary School Sports Association Secretary Mathew Murunga said preparations were underway for the event in the area with Nyang’ori High School set to host the matches.
He asserted that they expect the region to have strong teams from the three-day action to represent in Machakos.
“Everything is ready from pitches, and referees to players and we expect tough competition from all participants after some weeks of training, Western is known to produce giants and the trend will not change this term,” Murunga said in an interview with national broadcasters KBC.
According to Murunga, the body has taken effective measures to deal with the huge crowds expected in the games including separating some of the disciplines and deploying a considerate number of police officers.
“People from Western love sports and we are prepared adequately to welcome them, venues are widespread and thus we can manage to distribute the fans without any trouble, furthermore, we are equipped security-wise,” he offered.
Murunga hinted at Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) going digital in a bid to try and curb cheating in the school games competition and the plan could be effective before schools proceed to the nationals.
